I’ve received an email from “finances.gouv.fr” saying that I haven’t returned my 2019 Income declaration.

I’ve been on “my space” on the web site, and there is no opportunity to declare income for 2019.

There is the declaration for 2018, but nothing available for 2019. And I can’t access the 2020 section.

I’m sure I remember something about 2019 being carried over for some reason to do with changing the way tax is collated or collected, or something, and there was no need to complete the 2019 declaration.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

As far as i am aware the 2019 tax declaration had to be filled in as normal, there was a little bit of extra time given because of Covid19,we filled it out as usual in May and had our tax return as normal in August.

No, there’s been no opportunity to do so, and there’s still isn’t on the web site.

Maybe you should go and see them to explain your problem (take your email with you and your last avis d’imposition to have your taxe number). They are normaly helpful.

Yes , the tax people in France are pretty good , it’s the social security that are difficult .

    Good advice from Babeth.

I’ve done mine as normal this year.

I would second/third the advice given regarding going to the tax office. I have had nothing but courtesy, easy access to an official and unbiased help on more than one occasion.

    Thanks to all.

It does appear I’m going to have to go and see them.

It’s just that I have a vague recollection of something about a tax return not being required due to a change in how they’re going to calculate and collect the tax, and it’s weird that there’s been no opportunity to fill it in online, as I did last year.

The change is that they are collecting tax “at source ” for those that are working , but you still have to fill in a tax form once a year, then they deduct taxes already paid .

The online opportunity probably was there earlier in the year, but as the deadline has long past,it is more than likely the facility has been withdrawn now.As stated, there were no changes to the fact that a tax declaration still needs to be filled out.

Thanks Deboer. I do pay tax as a deduction from my bank each month, and also as deduction at source from my employment. But the puzzling thing is I have had no opportunity to complete a return for 2019.

The Tax Return 2019.pdf in My Space on the website refers to a 2018 previously completed return.

As has been suggested, I’m going to have to go see them.

Yes, just re-read the email more carefully, and it says I have to complete it in paper format now.

Jim fill in your return as soon as possible or contact them. They do fine you( 10% I believe) for late payments and first payments are due in September.
