As some of you may know I never like banning or even suspending members but over the best part of a year I have observed certain individuals carrying on with their futile shenanigans. I have tried to reason with them to no avail.

There seems to have been a lot of anger carried forward from other forums, with members being nasty to one another. This seems to dominate the forum much of the time and puts people off interacting for fear of being attacked. I have received messages from users wanting their accounts deleted because of this.

I don’t like excluding people, however for the benefit of the community some members are now banned. I don’t live in la la land and expect everyone to agree, life would be boring if they did but I will no longer tolerate any mean and nasty behaviour on our sites. I didn’t create UiB to be a money making venture, as long as it covers its costs and people enjoy using it I am happy. When people are deciding not to post because of nastiness I have to intervene.

I’m sure some of you won’t agree with my actions but to be honest I’ve run out of steam dealing with angry people.

To all of those who have been affected by nasty behaviour I offer you an apology.

    Thank you
    Wizard

Entirely in agreement, things couldn’t continue as they were.

Well said Wizard, I personally, have not had time, regrettably, to interact as much as I would like, on UiB but I have seen the ‘ranting’ and nasty behaviour on other social sites, where I left them to it. Even the ‘Archers Facebook page, used to be entertaining and witty, until the nasties took over. The less said the better, just blank them and cut off the blood supply. I don’t know how it is that some people have so much time on their hands to waste, in arguing/debating/fighting with someone that they don’t know, someone that they will never meet, and someone who couldn’t care less what they think – why don’t they just go away and sit down with a loved one and have a cup of tea!
Keep up the good work – it is appreciated ~~~~~~~~ Cheekiweeki

It is sad that any site has to lose members especially when numbers are struggling but bad feeling on forums is like a cancer and will eventually destroy them if left unchecked.

Hopefully members who have drifted away recently because of the bickering will now return and things can return to normality.

My French ‘Outlaws’, know not to come chatting, over their holiday home(next door) fence, between 8 and 8.15, Babethe is an Archers addict now ;-)

I have always listened to the Archers except when I lived in Canada, before the days of Internet. Now, I have the weekly omnibus podcast on my iTunes account, I download it onto my Nano and look forward to my Archers catch-up whilst doing
something that could otherwise be boring, like weeding or walking behind the lawn mower, vacuuming, window cleaning etc. In this way, I actually look forward to those ‘boring’ jobs. LOL

Oooohhh yes – I do hate to be interrupted during my listening. During the 75 minutes, I am in Ambridge and I don’t want to be brought back to my ‘boring’ job by anything unless it is important…… but I have not shared this with my darling husband, who can interrupt at any time…….😍

It’s not nice to have senseless nastiness and bickering so well done Wizard for making sure it doesn’t continue.  :rose:
