Ok, just a heads up for people in certain areas, that tomorrow the “Alerte aux populations” is going to ring out at 11.45 am.  It does NOT mean that we are under attack, but system is being rejigged and Morbihan is one of the places where the test and modifications are being carried out. So, for those of you living in say Pontivy, don’t panic if you hear this thing go off at 11.45.

Further info for such can be found in the following links,

@commandomum, no, I just saw about it online. Rarely, if ever, have I been to the local mayors office.

Thank you Gleaner – haven’t heard or seen anything yet – now 12:06 – but glad you let us know or we would have been wondering. In the USA they have ‘Alert’ through the mobile phones. We were in Florida in January 2016 when a hurricane came through where we were staying. We had left the TV on so that we could track the hurricane during the night. Our area was warned to take safe refuge in a bathroom or other secure place in the house. We had prepared a corner to go, and placed pillows and a thick blanket for protection, along with our MOST important items (small bag with passports, jewellery etc.), in there, so that at the moment we heard ‘the train coming down the tracks’ we could run and hunker down. Quite scary really. We fell asleep and were rudely awakened by the phones and mobiles letting off one of those ear shattering and very loud wrangy alarms. We were incredibly lucky as the tornado did not go over the house we were in, but wreaked havoc along the country, only half a mile away. Several people were killed and I did not hold out a lot of hope for the house we were in, to have survived that particular tornado.

English power stations had an alert test for major incidents (air raid siren), tested 11.00 every Monday morning. God help you if you didn’t warn visitors!

@commandomum, I’m sure there would have been notification promulgated at the local mairie, but I haven’t been down there for absolutely ages.

I’m afraid that’s all part of my repertoire S !!!

In fact, that’s one of my more ‘recent’ ones …..

    Speaking of T shirts :

I recall having a muddy aircraft with swastikas etc with the logo ‘Dirty Fokker’.

Also, ‘Have a Break, have a Kwip Krap’

and my favourite, one side with ‘FCK’ and the other which read ‘All I Need is U’…

Lert  – A small furry woodland creature that senses are always very intensely attuned to its surroundings. Sounds like certain politicians to me, or not, as the case may be

Gleaner you were on the right track if only you had scrolled a bit further down-

“When you are “lert” there is the consrant feeling that nothing will satisfy you but a good time seeking and ……………………………………….!”

Sorry it so bad and I am too young
