    Hi there,

I am looking for someone with experience of registering as an artiste plastique in order to find out how hard it is to register as such.

I’m sure if anyone has the knowledge they will share it with you @artefacts but many are away for the festivities so give it time

Hi Harry, I was hoping someone with more experience than me may have answered by now, I’m not entirely sure what an artiste plastique entails. However, it shouldn’t be any different to registering as any other trade. If qualifications are needed you will have to provide them, hopefully they’ll accept them if there’s an equivalent French certificate. Then you just jump through the hoops with the Chamber de Metiers. It’s not difficult, I did it a couple of years ago. It also sets the ball rolling for your Carte Vitale. Then once you have your siret number you go and get appropriate insurance and you’re off. The best thing to do is to have a look at the website for the CdM in your area (mine is near St Brieuc, 22) and find out when the next rdv is for enrolment. You have to attend this 2 hour lecture which explains the different tax regimes and types of business etc. There’s no exam or anything, it’s just information and then you go from there.

It’s not difficult, I did it with zero French language at the time. Once it’s done, that’s it, you’re in the system, you don’t need to do it again.

    Hope this helps
