I received a phone call yesterday making an appointment for the assessor to inspect the damage to my floor on December 11th, almost 5 months after the incident. You couldn’t make this up!

I have now made arrangements for all my insurances to be cancelled from groupama as soon as I receive my renewal notices which should have been delivered 15 days before the two month cancellation period. Of course they are late but I have 20 days from the date they arrive to cancel. I need to keep the envelope as proof of late delivery. my protection jurestique is standing by!

If you are insured with this company, this is the sort of service you can expect when you try to make a claim.

Two experts turned up on the 11th December, one from groupama and one from the water company. They agreed the claim there and then but still no money

Today I got a satisfaction questionaire from groupama about the way they have dealt with my claim. I enjoyed writing that a lot more than they will enjoy reading it and I didn’t swear once.  ;-)

Well, I finally got paid :yahoo:

It has taken two weeks short of six months since the incident. Now I have to hope that the only person I found who could repair my floor can fit me in to his busy schedule sometime soon.

This has proved a very stressful and unnecesarily complicated battle with an insurance company who don’t give a sh*t about their customers. I gave their customer service a rating of 1/10 and they only got that because zero was not an option.

Hopefully the repair will go smoothly and I can put this and the assurance company behind me.

    Onward and upward

Just to update this thread, my floor was finally repaired at the beginning of May. I had to wait for the artisan to have a window in his busy schedule. I have now removed every assurance I had with Groupama. Their handling of this claim has been shambolic to say the least and their customer service is zero. I was promised that my excess of 144€ would be repaid when I submitted the final paid devis which I did in May…. I am still waiting.

This claim which was for 1100€ and  was not my fault, was paid by Suez who caused the problem in the first place. My assurances with Groupama totalled around 800€ per year and through their ongoing appauling service they have lost all my custom, I will never deal with them again or recommend them to anyone else. I award them 0 out of 10 for their handling of this claim and their customer service. It is this claim’s first birthday next week!…………………………..Groupama?   :negative:   :negative:   :negative:

I’m glad that all, eventually, turned out okay as far as the repairs were concerned John but your decision about Groupama sounds to be spot on knowing how they have treated your claim, or not as the case may be! I hope you will keep chasing them for the 144 euros!

I really do sympathise JP, the thought of making any insurance claim, be it motor or house etc, just fills me with horror based on past experience!

Just a thought John – if you are owed €144 by Groupama, and they won’t pay up, do you have protection juridique by any chance? Let them handle it.

I would imagine the ‘excess’ would be higher than that F ?

I think JP has already made contact with his Juridique insurance if you go back a bit to page 2, not sure if they have helped.

Following an angry email from me last week I received a reply yesterday from Groupama in which they agreed to pay my excess. I have not recevied it yet but I guess it will take a few days. That should put an end to this horrendous claim debarcle.

Regarding my protection juidique, I did approach my bank last year with the intention to invoke it against Groupama but was just given a phone number to ring. I was concerned about my ability to explain the situation over the phone given my limited French and as Groupama had not refused to pay, I decided to give them more time. Shortly afterwards I had an email from them to arrange for an expert to view the damage so although the delays were unacceptable there was some progress. With my insurances now in the hands of other companies, I hope firstly, that I don’t have to make a claim, but secondly, if I do, it will be handled professionally.

Thank you for the advice and support I have received over this journey which now hopefully has come to an end  :good:

John, all our insurances are with Allianz lovely girls in Guemene, had 2 claims on the house one no quibbles. Last year went away for a week in the camper on they the day we left apparently they had a massive Thunderstorm which knocked our power off  lost everything in my freezers. Went down to see them got told to take photos and forward them to them also the size of my freezers that was the Tuesday on the Thursday I got an E mail with an offer which was most acceptable it was in my bank the following Tuesday . Can’t fault them at all all the dealings we have had with them have been first class.

Thank you Jean that is encouraging as I have split my assurances between my bank and Allianz. I got various quotes and although these were not the cheapest, the policies were more comprehensive and they seemed professional. This was important especially for my house insurance because I wanted them to inspect the house before giving me a quote based on their inspection, as an older property it has been altered and added to over the years so not easy to describe accurately.
