The best programmes were when they had animals on, they were often totally out of control and hilarious!

Loved the countdown to Christmas with a candle being lit on the advent coat hanger covered with tinsel thingie and then the final one being lit, the band marching in and carols being sung. Happy childhood days….

Ha ha ha! No I didn’t forget , the sticky back plastic, or the wire coat hangers, or the dreadfully dangerous stuff they got up to! (Adventures, I thought they were brave!)  But I did like the Chrustmas stuff they did for kids who didn’t have a lot of money for presents etc for Mum  / Dad ,  they got my imagination  and I’m sure the did with a lot of us.  Ofcourse, Had no knowledge of extras with Val and Pete!!!

Apparently, Val was sick of people thinking she was a lesbian, so had an affair with Pete to shut them up. Never would have thought, all those years ago when watching the program, ooh I say!!

Blue, google Peter Purves and Val Singleton, there is some info on it. Not that it matters, as you say.

I seem to remember the original presenters were Valerie Singleton and Christopher Trace.

That must be worth a Blue Peter badge :yahoo:

I was working in Stevenage at the time and the local cyclists joined in with the hundredth anniversary of the first London to Brighton “cycle” ride. I drove an Hillman Minx towing a trailer of spare Penny Farthings, Hobby Horses etc. Blue Peter made a whole programme out of it.  Unfortunately Annes Mother’s TV was broken down when it was broadcast. I’d moved from Stevenage to Shrewsbury by then!
