Saw on TV last night a program about the super powers of the human body, and one of the people interviewed was the French free-diving champion, Guillaume Néry, whose record is a depth in the sea of 126m, with the ability to not breathe for 8 minutes. His wife, Julie Gautier, is also an underwater record holder with 5 minutes without breathing , as well as being an actress and dancer, and the below is a short, silent film of her dancing under water. Impressive.

The human heart is an amazing piece of kit, I  have just worked out, that during my life, my heart has pumped

1,685,683,150 liters of blood around my body, non stop, without any oil changes or CT’s or anything. Impressive

Counting out  here, that equates to

    2,226,500,000 beats.

    Keep on going mate…………please

Just calculated, that that amount of blood is equal approx, to 1,685,683 metric tonnes and given that the average weight of a Blue Whale is 200 metric tonnes,  that means I’ve had 8428 Blue Whales swimming through my veins.

Beautiful, but I wish she would have gone to the top and taken a breath at the end, I was willing her to! Very clever.  Oh that I could just have the courage to get in the water, let alone go under it!

Just watched the video, my god how does she manage this, is it mind over matter? I’ve seen programs about the Japanese women diving for pearls and holding their breaths for  up to two minutes, granted some of them are quite old, but nevertheless!
