It was a very humbling occasion watching the service for the killed and injured at Ver-sur-Mer on what was Gold Beach on D-Day. To see these elderly men who in their prime didn’t expect to see their next birthday and now mid-nineties honouring their fallen comrades with quiet dignity was very moving.
Thank you all from myself and all my family.

Anonymous6th June 2019 at 2:07 pm #479282Just finished watching the ceremony on tv – very moving. One veteran gave stood up to give his account to the audience, no script or auto cue, just from memory and the heart….
Thinking of my Great Uncle who fell near Brouay 75 years ago tomorrow aged just 23 and is buried at the Brouay War Cemetary located between Caen and Bayeux. Many many thanks of gratitude from your grand nephew. You will forever be in my heart.
He left behind a daughter called Jennifer who he never met
Anonymous6th June 2019 at 2:35 pm #479293These poppies opened up yesterday. The iconic colouring associated with WWI &WWII. Unfortunately the non stop strong winds have all but blown them to pieces already. Took this closeup to share on here used a quick shutter speed to stop blurring.
