That made me giggle, thanks
I have not watched any of the matches as yet but my mum has had them playing in the lounge when we have been chatting and I have got to see a few bits of a few games.
I was happy to see Wales get a draw against the swiss as I thought for the majority of the game the swiss played a far better looking game, though when the welsh boys finally did relax and find a rhythm I thought that they looked like a very capable team. I shall try and watch their next game.
Well done to England for getting a win and condolences to scotland, I hope they can pick up their game for the rest of the tournament.
Anonymous15th June 2021 at 12:07 pm #552847When I took my late missus to her first ever live rugby match the second half got under way and she asked ‘why have the teams swapped strip after halftime?’ I replied, ’er no dear, the teams have just swapped ends…’
I took the wife to be to Griffin Park, a night game, The Bees versus QPR and it wasn’t until late in the second half I realised she had been cheering on QPR, when questionned she thought Brentford were playing in Blue & White hoops…..not Red & White stripes…She hardly ever came to watch matches after that but did finally come round to being a fan of my old team, Chelsea.
Anonymous15th June 2021 at 6:37 pm #552854Always been my second team, Pete. When Chelsea were away, the Bees were at home and vice versa. Had a few mates who played for them as well, so it was good to chat after the games.
Anonymous16th June 2021 at 9:13 am #552882Not being a football fan , but .
The most impressive football clip I have seen was Ronaldo with the coca-cola !
Well done that man .
Just seen some footage of the Portugal match,at last, for the first time in the competition,a bit of passion! All the other matches that i have seen have been like a Sunday afternoon kick about in the local park.Even teams that are losing with 15 or 20 mins to go are knocking the ball about with no desire,as if they are winning the match, not losing.
Not particularly a fan but can I ask a serious question about something that puzzles me? And I’m sorry if the answer is obvious and I’m just being thick. Why is it called the European cup but non-European teams play? (My question was prompted when Mr F was muttering that Argentina must train for acting rather than football. )
16th June 2021 at 1:53 pm #552901Group A: Turkey, Italy, Wales, Switzerland
Group B: Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Russia
Group C: Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria, North Macedonia
Group D: England, Croatia, Scotland, Czech Republic
Group E: Spain, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia
Group F: Hungary, Portugal, France, GermanyArgentina is playing the Copa America. Maybe, Mr. F. was referring to that.
Ahh I see, I didn’t ask what cup it was I must admit. It still seems that there are non-European teams playing though so I’m still puzzled.
It’s the same as me being puzzled why Australia takes part in the Eurovision Song Contest!
Sorry to lower the tone of the thread!
