My husband has had a wonderful experience with the French Health Service on several occasions. Excellent service. Heart problems, cancer treatment and broken bones! :rose:

So has mine. He has had two hip replacements, two cataracts done. Check ups for heart and skin and has physio twice a week on his back. We cannot fault it. Although it is getting harder to find specialists and our GP’s surgery has gone from 6 to 2 with locums to help out.

The length of time to get appointments for specialists is very long, a year for an Ophtalmologue, 4 months for a Rhumatologue, all depending where you live, however. And a GP can have you waiting 2 hours, sometimes, in the waiting room before you’re seen. But once you’re ‘in’ the system with specialists, it’s faster.

Here it’s 6 months for eyes. Our GP isn’t too bad half hour and sometimes quicker. Skin specialists are a) hard to find an b) you have to wait months or go further afield. We have a two hour round trip.
