On my tablet I access the internet pages via Microsoft Edge but somehow I have completely blocked it on a page, I can’t exit by any means, I have tried all the usual methods the X, Esc, Alt+F1, to no avail, I have typed in a new URL but when I hit enter nothing happens, absolutely blocked! Have any of you that are much more knowledgable than I on these matters any suggestions? (I can access Facebook so there is no problem with the internet itself)
Anonymous27th May 2019 at 10:00 am #477564Alt+F4 ? Not using a tablet, I’m having difficulty visualising what you’re describing, Fruitcake. Is it that you have one ‘window’ among several, other ones being Facebook or UIB for example, that you just can’t close?
Perhaps I didn’t give enough information VK – when I open the tablet I have a choice of ’tiles’ e.g. Facebook – Mail etc and Microsoft Edge. Clicking on any tile other than Microsoft edge is fine but when I click on that I get a grey page and the only way I can get out of it is to hit the back arrow.
tigre I cannot find the ‘clear cache’ in settings, I’m sure it’s there somewhere and I will keep looking to try that, thank you!
Anonymous27th May 2019 at 1:48 pm #477618Fruitcake, try this link: https://windowsreport.com/microsoft-edge-white-grey-screen/
Or this one: https://appuals.com/blank-screen-or-white-pages-on-microsoft-edge/
Once when my tablet jammed ( this was everything and not just one particular site) what I did was, turned the tablet off, then turned it back on keeping the on/off button depressed and at the same time keeping my finger hard down on the volume button, it seemed to clear whatever had jammed the dammed thing.
Wow, thank you so much both of you! VK the 2nd link was the one – I went to method 3, after the others didn’t help, clicked on ‘end task’ et voila! Page unblocked and I am in business again!
tigre I also found out how to clear cache etc while I was at it so thank you too!
I learn more and more about the techy stuff as I go along (with a little help from my friends!)
Anonymous27th May 2019 at 5:33 pm #477684Glad you got there, Fruitcake. I often have to use Task Manager to close Chrome when it stops responding.
