Going for my long morning walk with Conny dog at 8 am this morning, I stopped for a few minutes listening to a cacophony of birdsong, skylarks singing as they soared and a lone woodpecker tapping away in a distant tree, watched the sun lift itself over the trees and cast its long fingers over the valleys and couldn’t help thinking “How lucky am I to be able to do this, hear this, see this” Definitely a good to be alive moment and a moment of thinking of others who are unable to do so.

I love it in late Winter when the sun is starting to get higher and the days longer, the bulbs coming up, the rabbits at the back of us were all chasing each other today, a big black cat down by the river bank snoozing in the sun, yes, definitely agree Fruitcake, we are lucky.

I’m glad that you have things to feel lucky about C/mum, sometimes we just need to remind ourselves as we’re going about our daily lives and the sunshine certainly puts us in the right mood doesn’t it? Have a lovely day!  :rose:

We managed to get out of the  cold wind yesterday and sat outside for a couple of hours with a glass of wine. Very lucky.

We are inundated with birds feeding for France, prior to mating I suppose. Several randy blackbirds around! Plus Yannick has put his four Breton horses in the field next to our garden, lovely to watch them wandering around feeding.

Did not quite get to the wine stage outside @coldandwetatsea but have sat out with a cuppa a few days running once warm enough from working in the garden, just so wonderful to feel the sun on your face. So many birds coming to feed at the moment including two big fat pigeons insistent on getting onto the bird table, it is quite hilarious watching their attempts but they have sussed how to do it. Even luckier is that the chasse stop soon, now that is something to celebrate :yahoo:

The birds here are on top form, we have a number of Yellowhammers feeding on the lawn with the finches.

We have a nut feeder with fatballs and nuts in and one Blue Tit has worked out he can pull the lid off and get inside the feeder.

I bought a niger feeder for the goldfinches but only marsh tits are using it. Blue tits are in one of the nest boxes.

Sadly the two lots of Chase dogs converged on our  land opposite our house on Sunday and killed the hind. The dogs did not bring it down but held it whilst the man screamed to a halt in his white van, ran over and shot her!

We are not impressed, but understand it is the way here, and we are after all foreigners in this beautiful and largely unspoilt place.
