how to put a cheque into a atm machine cbm

been to the atm machine to put cheque got through the first bit then it tell me to put in account number ; umm would this be the cheque or mine because they already have mine. unsure so did not do. anyone know ?
Your account number
Your account number, or rather, the number of the account you want to pay the cheque into, in case you have more than one, a current and a savings account, for example.
But if you put your bank card into the machine first then it recognises your account anyway does it not? And then it gives instructions as to what to do including a reminder to sign the back of the cheque
When putting cheques into my bank, Credit Agricole, via the machine, it asks me what account I want to credit and I don’t have to sign the back of the cheque. And it’s credited faster to the account than depositing it at the counter.
Obviusly CA and CMB use a different system.Looking at the heading I assumed it was CMB the OP was with
