Ummm where is this map? Are we automatically included and if so could someone tell me why?

I now have reservations regarding this map, and would like to remove my dropped pin. How can this be done? It seemed like a good idea at the time but I now recognise the dangers.

    Hi all
Just logged off the map and placed a marker. Not noticed by me the first time was the message below:

Without saving the url, you others can’t change position, details or delete the marker; I can.

Let me know by PM who wants changes or deletions.

PSSTT! Don’t even let on who you are, never mind WHERE you are. Unless you have a very well stocked wine cellar, that is.

I don’t really see a problem with the map but l could be missing something, for instance, would it be possible for someone to actually find your address and other details when you only advertise a user name and location, ie town or village.

Well breadhead, in your case and others using an alias or a pseudonym you are probably correct. However, some including, naively, myself have used their own name, I believe in some instances even directions to their homes!
From this a simple search of the phone book can reveal the address, and from some of the posts many are actually saying they are holiday homes. I don’t want to appear paranoid about this but I do feel as did a previous poster that there is a security risk however slight.

@John Edwards I am beginning to agree that there could be a risk and my advice to anyone putting a pin on the map would be to use a forum name, don’t advertise your precise location, maybe put your pin somewhere in the vicinity of where you live and be careful what you say on the open forum ie if yours is a holiday home or not. I would like to adjust my own pin into the general area of where my property is so any advice on how to do this would be welcome.

Seems I can’t edit my earlier post, odd.

    Trying again.

Just logged off the map and placed a marker as if I was someone who’d arrived there from here. Not noticed by me the first time was the message below, which appeared after I clicked Submit to place my marker:

Without saving the url, you others can’t change position, details or delete the marker; I can.

Let me know by PM who wants changes or deletions.

I also kept a record of the URL to make changes to my entry, looking at yours it seems that each entry has a unique URL code to change your OWN entry. This map was a brilliant idea and gives a good indication of where we all are in Brittany.

Vegemitee, I have just read another post and didn’t realise that Capital letters means shouting, I would never shout at you. Sorry!

Linda, I never thought you did. If you mean the word ‘OWN’, I would have put it in italics to stress the word.

    Vegemite
I’ll remember that for next time, if I can ever find out how to do it from my Mac. Thanks.
