A flyer in the post box this morning announcing:-

Full liquidation before change of company name

    – 30% everything has to disappear.

    From 13th to 25 May

Does anybody know what the new brand will be?

Thanks to you Fitter – I have saved 400 euros today. I had not heard about this elsewhere. I owe you a bottle!

Good news is that all the existing staff are being retained by the new owners.

Lun, if you saved 400€ because there was 30% discount on everything, that works out that you spent over 1300€, so I think you can probably afford more than a bottle!

Ok – good that someone took advantage of their offer, I shan’t be able to get there until Thursday, so most of the big bargains will probably be sold by then.

My local Mr. Bricolage went belly up over a year ago.  I only noticed something was going on when I arrived at the Carrefour next door.   The brico was heaving with punters grabbing every shopping trolley they could get.  50% off everything in the shop!  I dived into the fray but too late for a lot of it.  The tools and power tools section was already empty apart from a few radically overpriced drill bit sets.  I came out with a few tins of lasure and some larger things that people couldn’t fit into their trolleys.  I doubt if I would have entered knowing it was only 30% off.  B-)

The likes of Brico Depot has certainly caused some of the others to either close, or to look at themselves and change direction, like Bricomarche in Taden (Dinan) which has changed more in to a trade looking store. a friend who works there said that the local Brico Depot had really bitten in  to their business and it has taken them a few years to try a new tactic by becoming more of a trade style store. Mr Bricolage has just one in the “area” the large one by Leclerc’s went some time ago now.

VK – correct on both counts – (depends on what the bottle is!)

Parking yesterday afternoon was a nightmare, extra tills open and not a lot left.

I think you all know who my other half is and where she works B-)

Evidently it is really really busy down there today, evidence the fact that Mrs G just phoned at 19;04 to annouce that there are still tons of people in the shop and waiting to be served and henceforth she will be ‘very’ late in  getting home tonight.

Well done Mr Bricolage – or should that be Weldom?
