I didn’t look up this answer, to stay in ‘my’ rules !   Is that Terry Thomas ? BE? Pete is probably too young to remember him!

Not Terry Thomas bv I think. I’ve had a think and is his name Mortimer Wheeler ? If not I will need to resort to wiki.

I enjoy a good quiz / enigma whatever you want to call it but these people are fooling no-one, same peeps just trying to out do each other with nonsense. makes a mockery out of quizzing if you ask me

Nobody is trying to ‘fool’ anyone, it’s a bit of fun that’s all. Does it really matter if  people deign to ask for help to get the answer ? And in order to post a photo the easiest way is to find it on Google, how many people do you know have a pesonal collection of famous people of the past ? What’s wrong with a bit of nostalgia ? Remeber, it’s a bit of fun…

I respect your right to not like this topic but please don’t spoil it for those of us who do, thanks.

As soon as I posted the top one I saw that he had signed it! Derek Guyler. The bottom one is our daughter Simone with her step grandad Jim. Jim (James Joseph Barker) received a gold watch and a birthday cake from his mother for his 21st birthday at Dunkirk! Hit by German shrapnel he nearly lost an arm but still managed to “swim” to a Royal Navy ship. Fought in Africa and all up Italy his war medals are now proudly on display in our front room in England. :good:

There were some tough and brave men, I doubt if the UK could fight a war these days.
