Can anyone recommend an Optician where I can go for an eye test without having to wait for months for RDV?  Most of the Opticians I have looked at only provide the glasses.  Would I need to see an opthalmologist first?  Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I know that a few friends of mine use the Opticians in Rostrenen on the corner in the town centre  where the market area starts but sorry do not know the procedure here in France re glasses as I just use the opticians eg Boots  in UK when I go across to visit family

    Regards

I do not feel guilty doing that as I book in advance and pay for the sight test and any extras that I need x

You need to go to an opthalmologist first to get your glasses presciption and most have a several months waiting list although if it is urgent they will usually fit you in. I don’t know where you are, I can recommend an English speaking one in Quimperle but you need to pm me as I believe I am not allowed to post their name and details here. When you have your prescription shop around, prices for glasses here are expensive and vary enormously.

If you have a prescription which is less than three years old, some opticians will do a test to update. It’s purely a sight test, not an eye health test.I had mine done at Krys in Ruffec, but I believe there are branches throughout France.

Thank you for your replies.  And thank you John for the recommendation.  Unfortunately Quimperle is quite a way to travel, sorry I should have said what area I am (near Josselin).  I will keep searching but may have to re-think my options.

    Regards.
