I was hoping for some advice please. WP and I have installed a pond for our duck, up until recently the water was still (and turned green) but now has a pump that aerates the water. We want to try and avoid using a pond filter if possible and were wondering if there were any plants that naturally aerate the water and aid in keeping it clean. If anybody has any advice on this that would be super! Also any idea where we can get them please?
Thanks

As for plants, basically any pond plant will oxygenate the water as oxygen is a by-product of photosynthesis. There are lots of oxygenating plants available that you just chuck in the pond too. Do you know anyone else with a pond who could give you a few clumps or plants?
Wizard, the trouble with ducks is that they eat a lot of the pond plants. We had a wildlife pond when we lived in France, that curly floating pond weed is good, Also bundles of barley straw can be effective. They say a green pond is not a problem, the trouble is we humans like to see clear water, it looks nicer of course, may be just let it take it’s natural course, difficult I know as clear water in a pond looks lovely. I think the filter you have may be the only solution, but someone on here may be can offer better advise.

Lastly I’m so pleased that Jackie and Tigre were united on this issue! Maybe we should all get ducks and ponds?
Thanks again
