Angela we watched that programme also. What gets me is how the hell do you invent machinery to work as they do? The one that folded pastry over the meat was worthy of a Nobel prize for science!
Found out this morning that my Mum, in the UK, is having her 2nd dose of the covid vaccine next week – just over 6 weeks from the first jab. That makes me happy.
Also happy that hubby & I had our first AZ jab yesterday.
Two more things for me to throw on my happy list of the day.
I went out this morning in the van to forage for fallen branches and trees in layby’s or on the side of the local lanes and the river and as I was in a layby collecting a load of storm fall a gendarme vehicle went past slowly then hit the brakes and reversed back. I did think that I was in for a grilling or a telling off but not at all, it happened to be a couple of the gendames who I invited into the van a long time back to watch the end of France rugby game. They stopped to say hello and also told me that if I went back and took the first lane on the right there was a fallen dead tree on the side of the road that was a bit dangerous for motorists to try and squeeze past. I went and loaded it all into the van after a bit of serious bow saw work I have been stopped many times over the years by the boys in blue and my experience of them has been 99 percent positive.
The other one to throw onto today’s happy list is reading about all of your happy experiences and things that have made you smile I am sure that it brings a smile to others too, so feel even happier in your day in knowing that you are making other people’s days happier by sharing your positive vibes. xxxx
I bought a nice 2nd hand shelving unit this morning, happy with that and happy with the thought that the money for my purchase is bolstering the funds that the marvellous organisation F.A.B. distribute to animal charities in Brittany.
Jamie your remark about the gendarmes reminded me of a few years ago when we heard a car pull up on our driveway. Going out we saw that it was a police car like we’ve only ever seen on French motorways. They had stopped at our remote house for a coffee break and had got a flask out. We told them to put it away and brewed some fresh for them, plus some nibbles were thrown in for good measure.
Woke up to seeing that I had a nice long email from a very good friend and much enjoyed reading what he has been upto. Always nice to know how old friends are getting on and even nicer to see that all is well and positive in their world
Lyvet, the machinery was fantastic and all so clean and shiney.
BH we have a dog from SPA named Benson by the SPA and we changed it to Ted.
Good day today despite rain and wind – it is shopping day. Used to hate going shopping but now the excitement of the week. O/H not happy as he can’t get in the garden.
I have a few craft projects going on – making a Teddy Bear, a Pompom ‘rug’ and still spinning the alpaca fleece. Enjoying the time to do it. And enjoying cooking again, with O/H.
Not looking forward to next job this morning, been putting it off (weather) – got to go and let chickens out.
Woke up early, sun shining…coffee good… Its going to be a good day. I love Ted….is he a beagle?
Yes M, he is and he’s lovely, I’m taking him to the vets this morning to get his first vaccine and have his nails clipped. He’s been such a good boy although he hasn’t got the hang of doing his business on training pads yet but it’s very early days. He sleeps all through the night in his pen without making a sound.
Have been out on another wood collection this morning which this time is not for use in the van but for burning in the large log stove whilst I will be sat in Front of the wide screen tv in my friend-clients house eating pizza, tarts, crisps etc and washing it all down with lots of nice Ale and enjoying the weekends oval feast of the six nations.
Sadly my friends can not be here to join in the festivities and are stuck in the uk so I shall shout, sing and support for them
I turn down their kind offer of using the house for whatever I want as I enjoy my own independance very much, but a wide screen, fridge , huge log fire and an oven during the six nations is a great opportunity not to be missed and will turn this weekend into a real luxurious holiday
They will get all their weeding done in return as well as a few other small jobs that need doing whilst I am parked here for the next couple of months.
It’s not the best day for gardening outside, so sowed some penstemmon seeds inside. I’m not sure if they will germinate as all the gardening websites seem to advise growing from cuttings rather than seed but it will be interesting to see the result. I also planted out yesterday some lettuce seedlings which I bought from Point Vert.
I’m expecting a parcel tomorrow of plants from Promesse de Fleurs so I’m looking forward to planting these out. Gardening although hard work, gives me a great deal of pleasure and is a good way of getting exercise without leaving home. As I grow some fruit and vegetables, it’s also provides things to eat and everything is organic.
I also have a few free range hens (for eggs) and I enjoy looking after them. Although I have kept hens for over 15 years, I still get a thrill every day from discovering how many eggs are in the nesting box.
Happiness is never too far from wherever I am. If I lose sight of of it for a little while my dog sniffs it out for me. He’s a happiness hunter. I don’t mind the occasional lapse, it stops me taking it for granted.
It’s interesting to see that it’s mostly the simple things that seem to make people happy. There’s a lot to be said for simplicity. Good thread, Jamie.
