Well call me a doomonger, sceptical or a conspiracy theorist which I do like now and again but, I can’t help but think giving the oldest in the UK population the first doses is really just a great big testing experiment and never mind if some of them die from side effects etc. No one in their right mind would agree to something being put into their bloodstream that is not tested throughly and met all the health and scientific demands before being out as a safe drug.

Lets face it, who are the people who costing the government and the NHS the most and do not contribute, never mind saying they have paid over their lives which is true but that was to support the elderly at that time and people working are currently supporting those who have retired and are on pensions.

I just don’t like it and trust it even less knowing my mum will probably be a guinea pig

Well, there are two oldies in this house that won’t be having anything put in our bloodstream until it’s well and truly tested that’s for sure!

Good for you and don’t take any risks about such an important decision. We know drug companies are not in business for the pleasure of it, they need to make billions and stay in business. I won’t even have a flu jab because they cannot target all the different strains and many people suffer with terrible side effects.

In France we are paying CSG on our French pension, so we are still contributing on health care system. The first one that might be inoculate with it might be the medical staf.

Have to disagree…I will trust my doctor..and I also trust the intelligent physicians who have worked hard to get the vaccine.

If having the vaccine helps eliminate the dreadful situation the world finds itself in …then lead me to it.

The world needs to get back to normality..people need to work, socialise…being vaccinated is the only way that’s going to happen.

My immune system is compromised by chemotherapy…even with a covid vaccine I will have to be very careful but for the vast majority it represents freedom and a return to life.

I must echo what babeth said there. I was of the understanding that it is the health care providers and medical staff who will be given the first wave of inoculations, and that begs the question.  Would the people who deal with patients and know more about matters than the average person willingly accept being inoculated if they thought there was any real chance of serious side effects and problems happening?

but will they have a choice ? :-)

Responding to Deboer here. Whilst I have found information as regards that issue on the nurse. org website  in the US, wherein, according to the CDC, nurses and healthcare workers will have that option, I am currently trying to find out if that same option is to be given the same workers in the UK.

Just been watching BFM and the word compulsory for everyone was mentioned. Do not like the idea of that and nor will millions of others!

I bet once they start ,you all change your minds…vaccinations are the greatest invention of the last century.

I THINK THE MISSING LINK HERE IS THAT A VAST AMOUNT OF PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY BEEN INOCULATED WITH THE VACCINE AND THE RESULTS ARE SHOWING IT HAS WORKED FOR HUGE  A MAJORITY OF THEM, AS MARTY COMMENTED PEOPLE JUST HAVING THE NORMAL  FLU JAB CAUSES THEM PROBLEMS SO IN THE LONG RUN OF THINGS IT IS SIX OF ONE AND SIX OF ANOTHER IT IS A CHICE EVERYONE MAY HAVE TO MAKE FOR A PROBLEM THAT LOOKS LIKELY TO BE AROUND FOR YEARS TO COME,

When it comes to safety and ethics, Pfizer’s track record is appalling. I personally wouldn’t trust a vaccine that they’ve knocked up in such a short time, any more than I would trust a Chinese equivalent.

Where is the evidence that it hasn’t been properly tested and could be a risk? I really would be interested to see this. Pfizer has a bad track record isn’t enough of a reason to me.

There are massive regulations and controls over the release of any new medicine. If such a high profile mass vaccination program turns out to be a disaster then it would be a disaster for the pharmaceutical company responsible as well as us so there is no benefit for anyone to rush out an untested vaccine.

As marmite has said vaccines are the greatest inventions of the last century. Anyone on here ever had Polio, Whooping cough, Smallpox or Diptheria? No, me neither and this is all due to mass vaccination programs that bring about herd immunity.

I suspect the anti-vaccination campaign and the now discredited Doctor who published the paper on a supposed link between the MMR vaccination and Autism has made you wary of vaccines but there have been millions spent on studies which have proved beyond doubt that there is absolutely no link whatsoever.

This vaccine is brilliant news and for people to just dismiss it like this based on goodness knows what evidence makes me despair to be honest. There’s been enough damage done by the anti-vaxxers already and if a chance this pandemic can be halted is hijacked by people who choose to believe in psuedo-science or something they’ve read on social media then I really give up.

I have read nothing on social media about the vaccine and don’t belong to any campaign, nor particularly believe in pseudoscience, whatever that means. It is just my own personal choice, my body, I have never had the flu vaccine but Mr. F. always does. I am not against vaccines, my children had them, as did I. Of course it will be brilliant if a vaccine can stop the gallop of the virus. I just personally prefer to refrain from jumping straight in until I know more about it.

Scientists work wonders but things still have to be tested to be sure there are no long-term complications from the vaccines they produce. I know Thalidomide has been quoted before and, of course, a lot has been learned since then, but those expectant mums did put their faith and trust in the medical profession without question. I just prefer to question, my choice, I have no problem with anyone else’s choice and wouldn’t dream of discouraging anyone from having the vaccine.

I tried to paste a link to a report about Pfizer, didn’t work  , but those interested can get the report by googling ” Pfizer track record”

As Fruitcake noted , I can only speak for myself , everyone can make their own decision .

Of course everyone must make their own decision…

there’s no way it will be compulsory…for a start there’s not enough to go around yet.

All those that think Covid 19 is a conspiracy can stay at home …
