Early September and I am eyeing up the wood burner and having naughty thoughts about electric blankets. Wimp that I am.

Not a wimp, Stinky, September has been very disappointing so far, did have the heating on tonight for a while to take the edge off, hope it picks up, if not it’s going to seem like a long Winter. :negative:

I don’t remember having to resort to the woodburner before October but I use a petrole heater in Autumn and Spring to give a boost when needed. I haven’t felt the need to do that yet which is just as well because I’ve not noticed any stocks of fuel in the supermarkets yet. I usually try and stock up a bit in the run up to lower temperatures while the prices are keenest. As soon as it gets cold the price goes up and the offers dissappear.

Good idea John , best to buy when it’s cheaper if you can . Plus some good thick jumpers!

I think it’s because it’s been so wet, at least it has been in Devon which makes it feel dampy cold, a quick blast of the heating  dries the air and makes it feel more comfortable. Failing that, I’m a wimp!!!!

Where’s the Indian summer they promised us? We’re going to order the fioul for the heating system this week, when we got back from Tunisia the temperature was half what we’d had there, so we both picked up coughs that are still bothering us. As one gets older, the skin gets thinner, so one feels the cold more. 19°C indoors at the moment.

Up here in the Frozen North , we had a few nice days in June, and nothing much after that! I think the highest temperature we have had is around 23/24 degs!  I’ve noticed loads of berries on bushes and trees , so early, so I’m keeping fingers crossed too! Indian summer , maybe still time ! 🌞
