I don’t remember having to resort to the woodburner before October but I use a petrole heater in Autumn and Spring to give a boost when needed. I haven’t felt the need to do that yet which is just as well because I’ve not noticed any stocks of fuel in the supermarkets yet. I usually try and stock up a bit in the run up to lower temperatures while the prices are keenest. As soon as it gets cold the price goes up and the offers dissappear.

Anonymous10th September 2017 at 12:18 pm #217826Where’s the Indian summer they promised us? We’re going to order the fioul for the heating system this week, when we got back from Tunisia the temperature was half what we’d had there, so we both picked up coughs that are still bothering us. As one gets older, the skin gets thinner, so one feels the cold more. 19°C indoors at the moment.
10th September 2017 at 1:36 pm #217889Up here in the Frozen North , we had a few nice days in June, and nothing much after that! I think the highest temperature we have had is around 23/24 degs! I’ve noticed loads of berries on bushes and trees , so early, so I’m keeping fingers crossed too! Indian summer , maybe still time ! 🌞
