It’s been sunny and very warm this week and forecast for the same next week ,18 degrees here yesterday .

The local country folk say that the fruit trees will flower early and then it will freeze in March ,so there will be no fruit , but of course they are not always right .

Foggy in the morning again and lovely this afternoon. Yes, even if it smells springtime, it’s not springtime yet. We are a bit protected in South East Brittany, rarely hard frost, -4° was the coolest I’ve seen this year. When it’s freezing, it’s mainly with the sun rise, but don’t last long. We had a hard frost 2 or 3 years ago, the northen side of the house stayed frozen for more than 24 hours, but it was in January if I remember well . It has killed our Trumpet Vine. Never mind, a friend gave me another bit of his, and it’s doing well again !

Jen’s bees have been out for a while. The weather is far too dry , the ground is getting rock hard in the fields .

It still freezes every morning , but warm and windy in the day time . Half way through lambing but starting to think about what to feed the flock once the hay is used up !

Very pleasant in Devon today, painted some garden fence, no butterflies, but a few bumble bees buzzing around.

Lovely afternoon on the sea side, no wind, no coat, just enjoying the blue colors, the sound of the waves and the caress of the sun on our faces.

The weather is truly bizarre for this time of the year – Mr. F. has to light the little oil heater in the greenhouse full of seedlings  turn off the heater and put shading up because of the extreme heat!! The neighbours are bemoaning the lack of water.

Just feel frustrated been locked in an office when it’s so nice outside.

    Don’t know what happened there some of my text is missing from the above post – it should have read;

The weather is truly bizarre for this time of the year – Mr. F. has to light the little oil heater in the greenhouse full of seedlings against the nighttime frost, then turn off the heater later in the morning and put shading up because of the extreme heat!! The neighbours are bemoaning the lack of water.

Oh that is what is called Sod’s Law Babeth! Typical and as you say very frustrating! Yes, two neighbours have told me it will change on Thursday. (So they will be happy about the rain after bemoaning the dry spell!)

Yep ,they forecast a change of wind direction to the SouthWest on Thursday , so we will have better weather and the grass will grow , temperatures should return to ” normal ” for this time of year.

Babeth , it’s not really “nice” outside , it’s supposed to rain so that everything can grow , if it doesn’t it will be nice all year until it becomes a desert ?   :-) ( not wanting to spoil the fun or anything )

We have nearly finished our hay, the same as a lot of farmers around here , last year was declared a calamity and now hay prices are astronomical .

It’s pleasant to experience but not right and a further sign that our climate is changing. Bees and insects may be buzzing around but there is very little nectar available yet. Fruit trees may start to flower early if it carries on but a cold snap may kill the flowers so no fruit later on this year. It should be cold still. Sorry to be a killjoy….

Yes, I’m so looking for springtime that I forget we are still in february. I can’t help it when I see the blue sky and the sun shining, I just want to get out :yahoo:

People are saying here that the fruit trees are making their leaf too early, so there won’t be a lot of fruits. I can believe it’s going to tired the trees, which need more water to keep the leaf longer.

My new neighbourg bought some fruit trees to plant. I’m not sure this is the best moment for it

I’ve seen firebugs today, a bit early too ?

Yes it is very nice but quite correct that it really isn’t right, also we are still getting frosts in the mornings and then the heat in the day, whatever is nature supposed to make of it? The ground is now dry and hard so the rain that is forecast will not penetrate as it should!

We certainly agree on that Jazzy , you seem to be in touch with the natural world ?

Jen and I were discussing it today , it is a “desert climate ” hot in the day and freezing at night . It is 40 C in our politunnel in the day but drops to just above freezing at night .
